Many users in India and around the world claim that Gmail is down and is unable to sign into their accounts or send e-mails.

Gmail, Google Drive, Google Chat, Google Meet, Google Groups, Google Docs, Google Keep, Google Voice and other apps provided by Google are facing an interruption.

Apparently the problem has impacted multiple consumers worldwide. Several social media users report problems with sending emails via Gmail, and downloading files to Google Drive.

In addition, when operating with Google Docs and Google Meet several users face synchronization issues.

Many people around the world can’t open their emails on Gmail.

Several users have also mentioned having trouble when downloading attachments to their twitter accounts.

Here is a type of issues found:

  • Gmail: Attaching or accessing attachments, fetching and saving draft emails, and sending emails.
  • Drive: Unable to share files, Upload and download of files.

Moreover, for many parts of the world, the hashtag #gmaildown was trending on Twitter.

The status page for Google Apps has also updated stating that they have received these complaints and will provide a follow-up by 1.30pm.

Google updated its support page with the status of the issue being ‘Service Disruption.’

“We’re investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly,” Google said.

“We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 1.30 pm detailing when we expect to resolve the problem,” Google confirms.

As per the G Suite Status Dashboard, Google services including Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Meet are down globally.

Since morning many users uploading files to Google Drive, writing content to Google Docs or making video calls using Google Meet report problems.

It’s uncertain what caused the problem right now, and why Gmail is down, but for many it has caused problems.

For most users, this platform is very important right now, because almost all operate from home and mails are one of the only means of communication.

The number of users recording Gmail problems peaked with 2737 complaints reported on downdetector at 12:00 PM.

The map shared by DownDetector shows users have also been affected in some parts of Europe and America.

The disruption has hit Google’s systems in India, Indonesia, Japan, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the Uk, according to Down Detector.

That’s not the first time it’s happening in India though. The Gmail services went down several hours back in July.

During this outage users were unable to reach their Gmail accounts and other services provided by Google.

DownDetector reveals the issue began today at about 9:30 am IST. A handful of countries are tackling the problem.

Google faced a similar outage back in March when services like Gmail, Drive, YouTube, and other Google services in some countries had been down for a few hours.
