Pune-based Defence Institute of Advanced Technology(DIAT), a deemed university supported by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has developed a microwave steriliser to kill the novel Coronavirus.
Sterilisation refers to any process that eliminates, removes, kills, or deactivates all forms of life (particularly for microorganisms such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, spores, etc.) and other biological agents.
This Microwave steriliser disintegrates coronavirus in 30 seconds to 1 min. This machine named ‘Atulya’.
The Defence Ministry said Atulya disintegrates the virus by different heating range from 56 to 60 degree Celsius.
As per Defence Ministry, microwave steriliser is a cost-effective solution and can be operated in portable and fixed-installations.
The microwave steriliser takes time for sterilisation from 30 seconds to 1 minute, depends on the size and shape of the objects. This Atulya Steriliser tested and deemed safe for humans.
To combat the COVID19 pandemic, the DRDO has developed several products such as Defence Research Ultraviolet Sanitiser (DRUVS), ventilators, personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, large area sanitisation solutions and COVID-19 sample collection kiosks.
Key features of Microwave Steriliser:
Let us tell you that ever since the coronavirus has spread in the country, the country’s prestigious Defense Institute, DRDO – Defense Research and Development Organization is preparing new technology against Covid-19.
Earlier, DRDO scientists and different labs have prepared techniques and accessories to fight the coronavirus.
However, the main charter of DRDO is to prepare missiles and other military equipment for the armed forces of the country.
Recently, a lab-based in Ahmednagar of DRDO had prepared a sanitation-enclosure (tunnel).
Through this tunnel, the upper body of the passengers can be sanitized by applying at the entry point of office, hospital, or any apartment.
Apart from this, two Delhi-based institutes had prepared microwave sanitization-box working with ultra-violet technology.
Through this UVC-box, you can sanitize your personal items like purse, mobile, watch etc.
Similarly, chair, table, vegetable or food packets can be disinfected with UVC lamp.
In addition, DRDO has prepared PPE-suits for doctors, nurses, and paramedic staff from parachute making materials.
Special N-99 masks and sanitizers are also preparing DRDO labs to fight the coronavirus.
