Today the first time Narendra Modi will take part in a NAM meeting on COVID-19

After becoming the Prime Minister in 2014, first time Narendra Modi will take part in a NAM meeting.

Today, Narendra Modi will take part in the virtual summit of the NON-ALIGNED MOVEMENT (NAM). The main aim of this virtual summit is to discuss ways to fights the coronavirus.

This virtual summit will also be attended by the external affairs minister of the Government of India, S Jaishankar. This Virtual NAM Summit will start today at 4:30 PM India Time.

The first time Narendra Modi will take part in a NAM meeting. PM has skipped two times NAM summit in 2016 and again 2019.

NAM Summit in 2016(in Venezuela) and 2019(in Azerbaijan) has been attended by Vice President of India.

What is NAM?

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAMis an international organization (group of countries) who do not want to be officially aligned with or against any major power bloc (group of countries).

Role of NAM

World Peace

NAM has played an active role in the preservation of world peace. It still stands by its founding ideals, vision, and purpose, i.e. the creation of a world of peace and prosperity. It forbade any nation from intervening, advocated disarmament, and sovereign world order.
