Shakuntala Devi is to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, featuring Vidya Balan in the titular role.
The film is a biopic about Shakuntala Devi, a late mathematical wizard who has been nicknamed the “human computer” for her innate ability to make complex calculations within seconds.
Speaking of Shakuntala Devi, Vidya Balan had said earlier, “I am extremely excited about playing the human-computer, Shakuntala Devi. She was genuinely someone who embraced her uniqueness, had a strong feminist voice and braved many a naysayer to achieve the height of success. But what really fascinates me is that you wouldn’t normally associate a fun person with Math, and she turns that perception on her head altogether.
Written and directed by Anu Menon, the film was produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Vikram Malhotra, also starring Sanya Malhotra, Amit Sadh and Jisshu Sengupta in the pivotal roles.
The Shakuntala Devi news comes hot on the heels of Amazon Prime Video’s announcement on Thursday about Gulabo Sitabo‘s release on their platform.
